Plastics - A story of innovation and challenges
How did plastic become so dominant in our everyday lives? The exhibition Plastic - Blessing or Curse? takes you on a journey through the history of plastic from its invention in the 1800s to the present day. It explores the many uses of plastic, its revolutionary impact on everyday life, and the major challenges it poses to the environment and cultural heritage.
Museums' fight to preserve plastics
The durability of plastic has proven to be a challenge for museums and archives. Many artefacts that we take for granted are already in disrepair. The exhibition shows how scientific methods such as infrared spectroscopy are used to identify plastic types and preserve our shared cultural heritage.
Part of the project "The Past in the Future"
This exhibition is the fifth and final in the series The Past in the Future, where six museums from Funen and the Archipelago together with the Conservation Centre Funen have shown how history and science go hand in hand to create insight into our past and future.
