Nørreballe Inlet

Great hiking/bird watching at the 54-hectare lake that was restored by a nature restoration project in 2004

As far back as 1883, Nørreballe Inlet was dammed and converted into farmland.

In the years 2002-2006, the EU carried out a major nature restoration project in Nørreballe Nor and Tryggelev Nor, both of which were heavily polluted by drainage water from 900 hectares of neighbouring agricultural areas. The EU LIFE+ project, the Danish Bird Protection Fund and Funen County financed the nature restoration project, which totalled DKK 9.2 million, of which DKK 4.4 million went to the 69-hectare project area at Nørreballe Nor.

In connection with the nature restoration project, footpaths and bridges were established in the southern part of the Inlet.
